Amor Vincit Omnia

A starting point – at our home, Greg created the Neptune’s Garden.  He planted succulents that remind him of the sea, he and I gathered shells.  He placed a beautiful fountain running water surrounded by a sculpture of Neptune.

I did my research and found that Neptune had a love – Amphitrite.  Together they are the gods of the sea.

Greg and my new home is ten minutes from the ocean.  In honor of his garden and our nearness to the ocean, I painted Neptune and Amphitrite.  The words that I painted, and began the painting structure with was Amor Vincit Omnia (Love Conquers All).  Omnia created the angle of Amphitrite’s knees and the relationship between the two people and the ocean.  You can still see the “O” as the beginning of the ocean.  The painting evolved.   It speaks to me as a couple arriving.  We are new here, near the ocean, oh, the ocean.
